At the Vodafone Ghana Music Awards, a fight broke out between Stonebwoy and Shatta Wale camps.
The rift started shortly after Stonebwoy was announced the winner of ‘Reggae/Dancehall Artiste of the Year’ after he has bagged the award five consecutive times.
Shatta Wale started approaching Stonebwoy on stage just when he was about to deliver his acceptance speech for the award he just won.
Although speculation has it that Shatta Wale, who was in shame after he lost the award to his top-rival who was announced the winner of that category, was walking up to the stage to congratulate Stonebwoy. While others are of the opinion that Shetta had bad intentions based on the fact that the two, over the years, have hardly seen one on one.
Stonebwoy’s bodyguard and Shatta Wale’s team began to get physical in a fight immediately they observed Shetta approaching the stage.
Stonebwoy pulled out a gun on stage during the clash and some of his team members tried to disarm him.
However, Stonebwoy later appologized for the incident when he went on stage to accept his second award for the night, ‘Best Collaboration of the Year Category.’
“I am really sorry for the incident that happened earlier on and I only had to react out of natural instincts because we all know how premeditative some people can be. We’ve seen on social media the treats and everything so we couldn’t come in unprepared because anything could have happened like you guys saw,” Stonebwoy said.
He added that “I come in peace and I go in peace and I apologise to the whole masses of Ghana that the Awards is going to continue. Thank you very much for supporting my music, for supporting everybody else’s music…by their deeds we have all seen.”
